Washington State Fly Fishing - Washington BeachesFlyfishing the saltwater beaches is one of those super special opportunities that is often overlooked when talking about Washington State fly fishing. While we love our rivers, creeks and lakes, we always look really forward to when weather, tides and fish come together to offer a grand experience in another area of this diverse coastal ecosystem. We flyfish the beaches chasing anadromous (sea-run) coastal cutthroat trout for a good part of the year. These are fish that utilize Washington’s coastal beaches to feed and reach maturity prior to returning to our rivers and creeks to spawn. These sea-run cutthroat feed aggressively on a variety of saltwater inhabitants and often readily take a fly. Sea-run cutthroat spawning habitat is incredibly diverse. They will usually not stray significant distances from their natal rivers and streams as do many other species. With huge numbers of coastal rivers and streams in Washington State for fly fishing, there are miles and miles of beaches to flyfish. Endless opportunities exist for chasing these beautiful sea-run trout. Overnight trips on the salt offer a very special opportunity to enjoy a little extra time on your flyfishing adventure. Fantastic scenery, fine foods and comfortable accommodations are a given on these 1 ½ to 2 day outings. We look towards a variety of camping options on the Washington coast.
